Into the Wide Open Arms of 2016

The pages of 2015 are closing, and the new chapter of 2016 is quickly approaching. On Sunday, we took some time to reflect on 2015 by getting into small groups and discussing some questions. We reflected on the following:

  1. What was your favorite memories of 2015?
  2. What are you excited for in 2016?
  3. Was 2015 a year of spiritual growth or spiritual decline? Why?
  4. How can 2016 be a year of spiritual growth?

Think back to your previous year… What were some of the monumental moments for you? How have you changed throughout the year? Is this a year that you look back and see that you have truly grown closer to the Lord or did you take a couple of steps backwards in your relationship with Him? Let’s make 2016 a year that when we approach 2017, we can look back and reflect on a year that we grew closer to Jesus. In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord is clear that He has plans for us - and those plans are not meant for our harm, but to give us hope for the future and to prosper us. That doesn’t mean that everything will be picture perfect and we can expect a promise of an absolutely smooth 2016, but there is a real hope for the future. Hope in Christ - hope that we are saved from our own sin in His death and resurrection - that hope of an eternity spent in paradise with the most loving Father. When we focus on that amazing hope of an eternity of pure love, we push forward through ourselves and live for Him. Let’s all make 2016 a year that we have our focus on the Lord and His promise of hope.
